Inverness nurse Ico Bautista Garcia recently spent six weeks helping to treat severely-wounded patients in Gaza.

In an eyewitness account, she describes her experiences of working and living in the European Gaza Hospital as the war between Israel and Hamas continues.

Ico, who previously spent a year in Gaza, says the sights and smells of looking after patients – mainly children, women and elderly people – is something she will never forget.

Despite the risks of going to Gaza, Ico insists she was not brave

"For me, it was difficult to sit here and not say anything," she said.

"I had to put myself there. It was a privilege."
