WATCH: Inverness Highland Games results released

HUNDREDS of competitors headed to the Inverness Highland Games at the weekend to compete in a mixture of events from track and field to Highland dancing and piping.

More than 7000 spectators enjoyed the full day of events and cheered as they watched the variety of action.

This year a brand new charity relay was introduced, won by PoppyScotland.

The winner for overall senior heavies was David Melnicuk from the Czech Republic with a total of 55 points.

The winner of the female competition was Elizabeth Elliott with 20 points.

Ms Elliott came first in every single heavy competition - caber, Inverness stone, Scots hammer, weight for distance and weight over bar.

Senior men 100m was won by Liam Daly in 12.2 seconds and in the women's competiton it was won by Aaliyah McCloud in a time of 13.7 seconds.

Under eight Highland Dancing was won by Zara Grigor from Fochabers and the adult winner was Kelsey Smart from Turriff.
