WATCH: Major response from firefighters and police to blaze in Highland town of Invergordon as flames light night sky

FIREFIGHTERS remain at the scene of a major blaze in Invergordon in Easter Ross.

The fire was reported to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service at around 7.08pm tonight.

Four appliances are in attendance in the Seabank Road area on the town in addition to two specialist units.

The locus of the fire is close to old oil storage tanks which are a landmark in the town.

Police are on hand to direct traffic.

The SFRS said the incident is ongoing with a heavy rescue unit and a community rescue unit also dispatched to the scene.

There is no word of any casualties at the moment.

It's understood Network Rail are closely monitoring the situation and may suspend trains.
