Scotland’s first multi-purpose centre for young people with learning disabilities and complex needs is taking shape at a site in Inverness.

A newly-released film gives an update on the construction of the £4.1 million Haven Centre at a site in Smithton.

The project is led by the Elsie Normington Foundation which said "fantastic progress" is being made on the build.

The centre will comprise three two-bedroom respite flats for young adults up to the age of 30, an indoor specialist play centre with childcare facilities, a community café, meeting spaces and outdoor garden.

Principal contractor Compass Building and Construction Services expects construction, which began in March, to take 12 months.

The project has received support from the Scottish Government, the National Lottery Community Fund and Highland Council.

Ongoing fundraising continues through the foundation to support operational costs and enhance services at the Haven Centre.

They include the inaugural Haven Highland Hooley at the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness on September 2.

A range of auction lots are up for grabs including lunch for two at Gordon Ramsay’s Savoy Grill. It also includes a tour of the kitchen plus a West End show.
