A CHEEKY dolphin offered a special escort to a wildlife tour near a Black Isle landmark.

Renowned wildlife photographer Charlie Phillips, a field officer for Whales and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) and WDC Adopt a Dolphin shared footage of the encounter near the Kessock Bridge.

It features Adopt a Dolphin star Charlie tracking the Mischief RIB operated by Dolphin Inverness.

Dolphin Charlie was born in the summer of 2007 and is described as "a boisterous, young male dolphin" who enjoys racing around Chanonry Point and Cromarty Firth. The WDC says: "There is never a dull moment when Charlie is around! He’s a strong, powerful dolphin and enjoys showing off."

Mr Phillips posted: "Adoption dolphin star Charlie right beside the Mischief RIB @dolphinverness today escorting us out beyond the Kessock Bridge _careful boat handling by Skipper Tasha."

Dolphin Spirit Inverness runs wildlife trips from Inverness Marina. Dolphin Mischief is described as "a fast, adrenaline-fuelled trip!"
