Lovers of folk music gathered in Ardersier last weekend as a popular festival made its return to the seaside village.

With around 200 people attending a variety of performances and workshops on offer, the third outing for the Ardersier Folk Festival was a great success according to organiser, George Livingstone.

He said: “It was a superb festival with wonderful concerts all over the weekend.

“We have improved on the programme from the past years – each year we learn from what we do and try to improve the offer, so this year we had more people than in previous editions.

“Although this is only our third edition – it should have been the fifth but we had to cancel during the pandemic – people from the audience said it felt like it had been running for longer as it has become a well known and established event.

“The lovely weather definitely helped too in bringing more people to the hall!”

The festival is organised by the Ardersier International Folk Club.

The weekend saw an array of ceilidhs and concerts from various artists such as John Ross,The Andy Ross Ceilidh Band and Sylvia McGowan, who also ran a singing workshop.
