A ward at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness remains closed due to a scabies outbreak.

Ward 6C was shut to new admissions last week while infection control measures were put in place.

The ward covers general medicine, cardiology, diabetes, and endocrinology.

An NHS Highland spokeswoman confirmed the ward remained closed as treatment was continuing.

The hospital's ward 3A was temporarily closed in March due to a similar scabies outbreak.

Scabies is a contagious skin condition caused by tiny mites that burrow into the skin and lay eggs.

Symptoms include intense itching, especially at night, and a raised rash or spots.
