The free Groam House creative writing course at the Black Isle Leisure Centre in Fortrose is being led by Barbara Henderson, the Inverness-based author behind Fir for Luck and Punch.

Two sessions have so far been run with two more to follow on March 8 and March 15 from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Participants are being invited to turn discoveries from WWI research they are carrying out on the Black Isle into short stories or poems. Barbara will help budding authors produce at least one story or poem relating to the period in Fortrose, Rosemarkie or Avoch. Pieces will be published on the Groam House website during the summer.

Researchers working on the project have visited a number of buildings including the Church of Scotland in Rosemarkie, the Roman Catholic church in Fortrose and Avoch Parish Church, amongst others, to garner information for the project.

To book a place on the writing course sessions or for further information, contact Barbara Cohen on barbara.cohen@groamhouse.org or 07778 148 183.
