Open invitation to Highland residents to join a virtual climate fèis taking place this week on the Isle of Skye

Highland Council officers are taking part in a climate fèis, a fringe festival to the UN Climate Conference on Climate Challenge in Glasgow (Cop26), taking place this week on the Isle of Skye.

The council's climate change and energy team is hosting three sessions for the Climate Feis tomorrow, Tuesday August 17 2021.

Members of the public are being invited to join the team online for sessions covering natural heritage and food as well as understanding what Cop26 is and what it aims to achieve.

Session one, at 10am on Tuesday August 17, is titled Protecting Important Natural Heritage aims to be a virtual "doors open" session.
Using Sluggans Peatlands as a case study, speakers will ask the question "Why should we protect our natural heritage?" using Sluggans Peatlands as a case study.

At noon there will be a session on food growing with a talk from Emma Whitman from the Highland Good Food Partnership and Danielle Nierenberg from the Food Tank.

A session at 3pm will ask "What is COP26 and what are the local implications?"

The session will have an introduction from Skye councillor John Gordon.
