A group effort sponsored walk covering the equivalent of the length of the UK will get under way next week.

Individuals and businesses are signing up to help fundraising for the Held in our Hearts baby loss support charity, via Albie's Gift.

The initiative has been set up by Inverness mum Daisy McKenzie and husband Eoin after a tragedy that robbed them of their beloved baby son, Albie.

He died in his sleep, a fortnight after his first birthday.

Held in our Hearts provides counselling support for those who have lost a baby and Daisy and Eoin want to do whatever they can to help it.

The sponsored walk was originally set for Septemner but later brought forward to August so that families have more chance to take part together during the school holidays.

Daisy said: "Each person has their own fundraising page and we are aiming to walk roughly 60 miles each through the month.

"I’m planning to update the Albie’s gift page (on Facebook) with how many miles we as a group cover each week.

"People can still join us on the walk or sponsorship would be much appreciated."

The walk is just part of a range of events planned to help boost fundraising

On Thursday, August 10 Frankie and Lola’s soft play hosts an event from 6.30-8.30pm where each child attending will get two hours of play, with a face painter, free glitter tattoos and other entertainment also on hand.

The café will be open and there will also be a raffle.

On Friday, August 18 a quiz will be held at Kings Church at 7.30pm along with another raffle with great prizes, with 19 teams of six signed up.

On Saturday, September 2 Louisa from Moo Music will host a morning of singing and other fun and then on Friday, November 3 a party and auction will be held at the Glen Mhor Hotel in Inverness, at 7pm.

Live music will be provided courtesy of Ezra from 8pm, with a ceilidh.

A full hot and cold buffet will be provided with the auction also running on Facenook before the night so everyone gets a chance to bid.

Prizes so far include a three-night stay at a lodge with a hot tub; concert tickets and the services of a mechanic for eight hours.

Tickets are £25 with £10 from each ticket going to Held in our Hearts.
