PEOPLE of all ages braved autumn showers to enjoy an annual agricultural display in Inverness.

Organised by the Strathnairn Farmers’ Association, the 13th edition of the Strathnairn Agricultural Working Vintage Rally saw agricultural machines of all kinds on display within the Daviot Estate.

The programme featured demonstrations of ploughing, harvesting with binder, and vintage combine harvesters and threshing. There were also trade stands, a heritage and crafts marquee, Highland dancing, piping and traditional music to entertain those who attended.

Chairman of the rally committee, Ray Smith, said: “Unfortunately it got wet after a while but it was a reasonably successful day.

“We had a good mixture of tractors, static and working machines, and people enjoyed themselves despite the weather conditions.”

The day featured an auction of goods donated by local businesses and people to raise funds for the mental health charity Mickeysline & The Hive Project.

Mr Smith added: “ John Walls did an excellent job in leading the auction. We will soon have a meeting to count how much we have raised.”
