A homeless man tried to bring his girlfriend into his accommodation but she was refused entry by staff.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard this prompted an argument in the city centre on July 20, 2021 and 36 year old Lee Dyce, described as an Inverness prisoner, picked up an object.

Sheriff Gary Aitken was told he then threw it at the windscreen of a van parked outside and smashed it.

Defence solicitor Marc Dickson said his client was currently on remand and confirmed he would not be released "any time soon."

Dyce was fined £1,000 with no time to pay and the alternative of 28 days jail was imposed.
