Urquhart Castle and Eilean Donan Castle named among 15 most instagrammable castles in the UK

A CASTLE on Loch Ness was featured in a list of the most instagrammable castles in the UK.

Urquhart Castle near Drumnadrochit was 14th in a list compiled by villa rental company The Thinking Traveller based on the number of posts featuring the location's hashtag, with a total of 55,505 posts under #urquhartcastle.

Top spots were taken by the Tower Of London (647,112 hashtags), Edinburgh Castle (646,244) and Windsor Castle (432,092).

Eilean Donan Castle made the top 10, ranking 7th with a total of 95,969 hashtags counted.

The same study also featured a list of the top 15 most Instagrammable castles in Greece, France, Italy, Spain and Europe.

Among Scottish locations, Stirling Castle and Dunnottar Castle also made the list.
