Police have confirmed that a man has died following a two-vehicle crash that blocked the A82 Loch Ness road earlier today.

The collision between a Ducati motorcycle and an MG car happened near Invermoriston at around 12.10pm.

The road was closed for several hours with diversions put in place.

And police have now said that the 51-year-old rider of the motorbike died at the scene.

Officers are now appealing for information in relation to the circumstances.

No-one else was injured.

The road was closed for around seven hours to allow for a collision investigation to be carried out and re-opened at around 7pm.

Sergeant David Miller, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this very difficult time.

“I would ask anyone who saw the vehicles immediately prior to the crash to come forward.

"I would also ask anyone who with dash-cam footage who was in the area around the time of the crash to check their footage and provide anything relevant to us as soon as possible.

“Those with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1362 of July 19.”
