Police have thanked the public after a missing 57-year-old woman and her 13-year-old daughter were tracked down"safe and well".

Officers appealed for help to trace Catherine Costello and her daughter Eve Pender after they were reported missing from their home on the Isle of Lewis.

The force said they were previously last seen at the bus station in Farraline Park, Inverness, on February 22.

A police spokesman said: "Catherine Costello and daughter Eve Pender who had been reported missing from the Isle of Lewis have been traced safe and well.
