UPDATE: Man airlifted to hospital after three-vehicle crash shuts the A9 near Dalwhinnie

A man has been airlifted to hospital following a three-vehicle crash which shut down the A9 in both directions.

The major road remains closed near Dalwhinnie, with diversions in place, after emergency services were alerted at around 1.35 pm today (Friday).

A woman was also treated at the scene following the collision at the A889 junction near the village on the western edge of the Cairngorm National Park

The condition of the man taken to hospital by air ambulance is currently unknown.

Local diversions are available for vehicles under 3.5 tonnes only

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Emergency services are in attendance following a three-vehicle crash on the A9 at the A889 junction near Dalwhinnie which was reported around 1.35pm on Friday, August 26.

“One man has been taken to hospital by air ambulance and one woman is receiving treatment at the scene.

“The road is closed in both directions.”
