TRAFFIC remains heavy around the Inverness area after an earlier crash just north of the Kessock Bridge.

Emergency services, including an ambulance and two fire engines attended the scene after a campervan overturned on the A9 at around 4.45pm.

The campervan was left on its side on the A9's northbound carriageway, on the short stretch between the bridge and the turn-off for Harry Gow's North Kessock bakery.

Traffic Scotland issued an update at 5.25pm to say the northbound carriageway of the Kessock Bridge was now closed to all vehicles.

In a later update, at 6pm, they tweeted that police were on scene managing traffic, adding: "Congestion in Inverness #Avoid Length delays of over an hour."

The northbound carriageway has since reopened, with traffic once again moving on the bridge.
