The troubled Torvean Swing Bridge has reopened to traffic after its latest fault forced closure.

The jinxed Caledonian Canal crossing serving the A82 shut again on Monday after a problem with its automatic operation.

Torvean Swing Bridge remains closed with operational issue

It was the latest in a series of closures of the “bridge of sighs” which is designed to operate in tandem with the nearby original swing bridge.

Prior to the latest issue, it was shut for around two weeks through late March until April 6.

Highland Council’s headaches began not long after the official opening in July 2021.
