Five people were taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash on the A82 by Loch Ness.

The driver of one car and four occupants of a second vehicle were removed by ambulance after the collision sometime before 4.30 pm today, just north of Invermoriston.

No further details on the condition of those involved are currently available.

Police, ambulance and fire crews attended and the road was closed in both directions.

It reopened to northbound traffic initially after 6pm before fully reopening two hours after the accident.

The scene has now been cleared completely and temporary traffic control measures have been removed.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Around 4.30 pm on Mon 17 April 2023, police were called to a two-vehicle road crash on the A82 between Invermoriston and Drumnadrochit.

"Five people, the driver of one car and four occupants of the second vehicle, have been taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

“There are no details on injuries at this time.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the cause of the crash."
