The family of a nurse and his young son trapped in Turkey for the last four weeks are hopeful they will soon be back home in Nairn.
Father-of-three Ali Abunejmeh and his eight-year-old son, Sebastien, were on holiday visiting family in Jordan and the West Bank.
They were due to fly back to the UK via Antalya Airport in Turkey on August 5 but were not allowed on the flight due to a wrangle over proof of evidence of UK residency.
Mr Abunejmeh's wife, Jana, said the situation is now looking more hopeful and her husband hopes to receive a
biometric residence card next week which should enable him to travel back home.
"It has been stressful," she said.
"Until he is on the plane to Britain and until he is here, I will not relax."
Mr Abunejmeh, who was born in Jordan, has lived in the UK for 15 years and has settled status.
Although his residence card was out of date, he said he was advised by the Home Office before travelling that he would be able to prove his settlement status via its app.
But Turkish Airlines had not allowed him to board the flight.
The case has been taken up by Inverness MP Drew Hendry who called for urgent ministerial intervention.
Mrs Abunejmeh, a Czech national, and their two other children did not make the trip as they were waiting for renewed passports.
