A support worker who left a social service user unsupervised in a public toilet has been reprimanded after the person assaulted a child.

Honesty Mutumbami was given a warning following an investigation by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) into the Inverness incident on February 2.

The warning will stay on her registration for two years.

Reprimanding her for failing to follow the service user's risk assessment, the SSSC said: "The service user was temporarily out of your sight and, in that time, was able to assault a minor, causing emotional harm to them and also risking serious physical and psychological harm."

They continued: "The impact of your conduct was extremely serious" but added that her behaviour appeared to be "a momentary lapse... rather than a wilful disregard for the protocol."

They added that she had taken "full responsibility" and "expressed deep regret and remorse, and have shown extremely good insight into your failing. Accordingly, we consider the risk of repetition to be low."

They added that she had a good work history prior to the incident and her employer was "extremely supportive" of her abilities.
