Two 36-year-old women have been arrested after an elderly woman's bank card was stolen.

They have been charged with theft after the card was taken from her home.

It is understood that her pension was then taken from her bank account.

A police spokesman said: "Police Scotland can confirm that two women, both aged 36-years-old, have been arrested and charged in connection with a theft from a property in Davis Square, Inverness on Monday, March 30.

"Both are expected to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court at a later date."

An online crowdfunding campaign set up to replace the stolen money has reached more than £1000. Local businesses have also supported the elderly woman by giving her cash, a bag of goodies and a care package.
