Two teenagers have been reported to the Children's Reporter after a 13-year-old Inverness Caledonian Thistle fan was injured when a flare was thrown in a stand during a match.

Police Scotland said following an appeal regarding the incident, a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old were identified as responsible.

Both will be reported to the Children’s Reporter for the possession of a pyrotechnic article within a football ground, as well as culpable and reckless conduct.

The incident happened within the North Stand at Caledonian Stadium on Friday January 12.

PC Aidan MacDonald said: “Pyrotechnics are extremely dangerous and present a serious risk of harm to members of the public and to those who discharge them.

"A 13-year-old boy was fortunate to escape with minor injuries as a result of this incident.

"I would like to remind members of the public that any person found to possess and or ignite such a pyrotechnic article is guilty of an offence and could face being arrested and potentially risk becoming subject to a football banning order.

"We would also like to thank members of the public and Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club for their assistance with this matter."
