TWO people were taken to hospital after they and a cat were rescued from an Inverness house fire early this morning (Tuesday).

Three fire service appliances rushed to the scene at Hilton's Oldtown Road shortly after 4.30am, where a two-storey, semi-detached building had been affected by a fire on the first floor.

The two residents and the cat were rescued from the first floor window. Their condition is currently unknown.

A Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed that they used six breathing apparatus at the scene, one hose reel and three water jets.

Police Scotland were called at the scene at 4.40am to assist with road traffic.
