Two bands can’t wait to be part of this year’s Monsterfest event in Inverness.

Both northern Scottish band Bad Actress and Bad Touch, who are from Norfolk and Suffolk, have been booked to be part of the festival when it returns in November.

Bad Actress, whose current line-up features three brothers from Forres, and two close friends from Muir of Ord has an average age of just 21 years old.

They are now preparing for a UK tour as well as a recently released EP – Red Hot – which was out at the end of July.

The band were due to play in Chesterfield, Sheffield and Nottingham, before returning north to play in Inverness, Forres and Aberdeen this month and September – the Inverness show will be on September 3 at the Tooth and Claw in Baron Taylor’s Street.

The EP has already gained high praise, with one reviewer describing it as very nostalgic which pays homage to the rock greats with a vintage sound and feel – just ripe for a modern audience.

Another said the band had an energetic force of nature which were incredible rockers from the north of Scotland.

And singer Vinnie Vexx’s power vocals have been described as having a tinge of Bon Scott about them.

As well as 21-year-old Vexx, the line-up consists of 20-year-old Chick McFarlane on lead guitar, 24-year-old Tommy B on rhythm guitar, 23-year-old Alexi on bass, and 17-year-old Lui Q on drums.

They opened the very first Monsterfest in Inverness at The Ironworks in 2018 and returned for the Monsterfest Fringe the following year – they are hoping to be playing Inverness in November as part of this year’s Monsterfest shows.

Bad Touch, who have a reputation as one of the UK’s hardest-working bands, are also looking forward to appearing at this year’s Monsterfest.

They will be second on the bill supporting The Wildhearts at the Ironworks on November 12, with the line-up also featuring Chemia, Tomorrow Is Lost, At The Sun and Electric Mother.

Singer Stevie Westwood, who is from Wangford in Suffolk, said they had visited Inverness and the Highlands before, adding: “We love the beautiful scenery and the atmosphere is magical.

“We’re stoked to be playing Monsterfest. As a band we’ve got some serious electricity we need to discharge, and we cannot wait to be back on stage in front of you beautiful lot.

“Honestly, Inverness is one of our personal favourites to visit. The people are so welcoming, and the Scots certainly know how to party.”

The band has been together for just over a decade and, unlike the singer, all hail from in and around East Dereham, Norfolk.
