Celebrating a decade in business marks a significant milestone, underscoring the resilience, creativity, and sheer dedication required.

The team at Tweed Wealth Management recently commemorated this achievement, having spent the past 10 years offering invaluable advice, knowledge, and expertise to clients throughout the UK. Notably, they now oversee assets exceeding £450 million for their clientele and have successfully integrated six firms into their portfolio, with a seventh imminent.

Executive caught up with the managing director and co-founder of Tweed Wealth Management, Alison Welsh, who started the business with her husband Chris Tweed. Alison attributed their success to their exceptional team, emphasising their integral role in the company’s trajectory thus far.

She said: “We have an amazing team who were brought into our growth plan and have put in as much effort as we do.

“We have been selective about who we bring into the team, making sure that it’s the right culture fit, and we wholeheartedly believe that we provide the gold standard of service within the wealth management sector.

“Chris and I knew we wanted to grow a business that was more than us, providing opportunities to people who want to join the industry when historically the barriers to entry are high. We are so proud to have an incredible team of 30 people who care about the business and support our common goal to be the biggest wealth management firm in Scotland.

“We’ve only ever lost one full-time member of our team in the whole 10 years – we are really proud of that fact – it feels like we’ve cultivated a culture people want to be a part of.

“There’s definitely a feel of having driven and motivated people around us and there is a good buzz about it.”

With two offices in Inverness, and other offices in London, Edinburgh, and soon-to-be Glasgow, Tweed Wealth Management is passionate about not leaving any clients behind and ensuring that everyone in Scotland – even in the most remote parts – has access to the best service and care when it comes to their finances. With clients spanning across the whole of the UK from Thurso and Shetland to Dorset and Cornwall, Tweed Wealth Management services expand across all regions.

The business takes all its team through its Tweed Wealth Academy, which provides training and education to the highest standards when it comes to being a chartered financial advisor.

Having acquired John Home Wealth Management and Macleod and MacCallum Wealth Management in Inverness, Tweed Wealth Management ensures their team has every professional and growth opportunity available to them.

Alison said: “We are proud of the career development the team have gone on, it’s always about helping them with their personal growth plans.”

“We don’t go with the status quo, and we are always looking for opportunities to serve our clients in the best way we can.”

“Macleod and MacCallum has just celebrated 60 years in business and with Tweed Wealth turning 10, we are hoping we can do a joint event with them to celebrate over the coming months.”

Not only have the team at Tweed Wealth Management been celebrating their milestone but their hard work has also been recognised by their industry colleagues, as the business recently won St. James Place chartered firm of the year.

“We’ve won awards before and others in the last six months, but the St. James Place chartered firm is the best accolade we could have asked for this year,” beamed Alison.

“St. James Place is home to the most chartered advisors in the whole industry, so the bank of candidates up for the award was very strong.

The selection process was rigorous with the criteria for becoming a chartered firm stringent, requiring a significant portion of our team to be chartered professionals. As Tweed Wealth Management grows, maintaining this status is crucial. This achievement reflects our Tweed culture — a commitment to continual improvement and striving for excellence.

“Receiving an accolade from our peers, and to get that rubber stamp hopefully shows to all of our clients and our prospective clients that the service we provide is truly to the highest standard.”

Tweed Wealth Management are proud to promote entrepreneurism from within the business, supporting the team to improve the industry.

Alison said: “We are doing a lot of great work in the automation of the wealth management sector and looking at how automation can help our team.”

Looking ahead to the next 10 years, Tweed Wealth Management and its sister companies hope to continue to provide the gold standard of service it is known for, grow further, and reach the status of the biggest wealth management firm in Scotland.

Alison said: “There are lots of exciting things going forward within the business.

“We are building our leadership team from within, and that will continue to grow.

“We also see the Highlands and Islands as a huge market for us and an important location for us. Our presence will grow in this region, which will come through a combination of acquisitions and bringing new people into the industry.
