A SCOTTISH road maintenance company is to maintain management over the Highlands and north west trunk roads after being named as the preferred bidder for Transport Scotland.

The latest Network Management Contract will see BEAR Scotland retaining responsibility for more than 1,422km of trunk roads across the north west of Scotland until at least 2030, with the option of a potential four year extension.

The company has been responsible for the north west trunk roads since 2013.

Iain Murray, managing director of BEAR Scotland said: “Retaining responsibility for the North West Trunk Road Network demonstrates the ongoing strength and value of the services we provide. It is a testament to the quality of work delivered by our teams and shows we can step up to the enhanced requirements of the new contract.

“We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with Transport Scotland to manage and maintain the trunk roads across the north west of the country, providing crucial lifelines for the people of Scotland.”
