Tributes have been paid to a popular singer who has died aged 76.

Maggie Donaldson was one half of the musical duo The Marlettes who were based in Evanton.

Husband Bob shared the sad news on the group's Facebook page and said she had passed away peacefully on Wednesday in Highland Hospice.

He added: "She fought a hard and brave battle with cancer over the last couple of months and faced the end with humility and strength.

"She didn't fight that battle alone, but with a formidable army, made up of doctors, nurses, auxiliary, carers, and support teams from ward 4B at Raigmore Hospital, the Highland Hospice, and of course her loving friends and family.

"That Army still marches on every hour, day, and night. She is already sadly missed by us all but realise her memories and songs will give us pleasure for years to come.

"Please give us time to grieve, and we will let you know shortly, the next step of her journey."

A celebration of her life will be held at Inverness Crematorium on Wednesday, February 8, from 2pm.

For those who are unable to attend a live stream link will be available online at the Mairi Urquhart and Son Funeral Group website.
