A BLACK Isle man who died at his workplace in Easter Ross will be laid to rest later this month.

John Matheson, who was 59, died suddenly at his workplace at Nigg on July 20.

Mr Matheson, of Raddery, was formerly bosun on the Foinaven and latterly worked with Global Energy.

In a funeral notice shared by John Fraser and son, he is described as the beloved husband of Roberta, much-loved dad of Tara, Gregor, Gillian and Tasha, proud grumpa of Kye and Cohen and a dear father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and a loving dog-dad to Jura.

A spokesperson from Global Highland Energy said: “Our sincere condolences go out to John’s friends and family at this terribly sad and difficult time”.

Many took to the funeral director's social media page to share their condolences and share memories of Mr Matheson.

One wrote: "My deepest sympathies, can't beleive the big fella has left us."

Another added: "Sorry for your loss he was some boy. I had the pleasure working with him the last two years on Foinaven. Taken far too early R.I.P John...thoughts are with you all."

Another leaving atribute simply stated: "A gem of a man taken far too soon."

His funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11 at 1pm in the funeral home of John Fraser & Son, Chapel Street, Inverness and thereafter to Fortrose & Rosemarkie New Cemetery.

Family flowers only are requested with donations in memory of John if wished for RNLI Invergordon at the service.
