An early morning train service from the north Highlands to Inverness was cancelled this morning after trespassers were seen on tracks.

ScotRail’s 6.13 am run from Ardgay to the city, scheduled to arrive at 7.45 am, was abandoned through safety concerns for those seen on a nearby stretch of the Far North Line.

A ScotRail spokesman apologised to customers for the cancellation of the commuter service and confirmed: “This is due to trespassers on the railway.”
