A group of Travellers which set up a makeshift encampment in Inverness earlier this week was still there this morning.

They arrived by Wednesday morning on open space, behind the Gaelic School, near Sir Walter Scott Drive.

One resident, Shona Gunn, contacted the Inverness Courier and claimed that the Travellers were spotted driving through the school grounds and down a pedestrian walkway used by pupils in order to gain access to the field.

She added: "I watched today as one of the vehicles tried to exit the field across the walkway as pupils and a teacher were making their way between the nursery and primary units."
