More train disruption.
More train disruption.

Major disruption to train services due to severe flooding will continue today with changes to routes connecting Inverness with the south.

ScotRail have advised that due to heavy rain flooding the railway, trains between Edinburgh and Inverness, and Glasgow and Inverness, will start and terminate at Perth.

The rail operator confirmed that a limited number of replacement buses will be operating between Perth and Inverness, and that commuters may wish to consider postponing their journey until rail services return to normal.

They added that these may have to run direct between these two stations if full at departure.

With heavy rain forecast across several areas of Scotland, speed restrictions will also be in place on the West Highland line and on the Inverness/Kyle of Lochalsh line between 9am today and 8.30am tomorrow.

These speed restrictions will result in extended journey times and in reaction an emergency timetable (ETT) for each affected line of route will be introduced to manage the disruption that these speed restrictions will create.

The London Euston to Inverness Caledonian Sleeper service will divert via Aberdeen and will now arrive at the later time of 11am, while the Inverness to London Euston service will be operating but will also divert via Aberdeen and will now arrive at the later time of 9am.

Disruption and speed restrictions are expected to continue until the end of the day, tomorrow (October 11).
