A track safety inspection has sparked the closure of the Inverness-Aberdeen railway line at Dyce, ScotRail has warned.
The rail operator has advised passengers that services could be cancelled, delayed or suspended in the wake of the closure, and to check their journeys before travelling.
Services affected so far include the 8.56am Inverness to Aberdeen service which had been due to arrive in the Granite City at 11.24am. It is being terminated at Inverurie, and won't call at Kintroe, Dyce or Aberdeen.
The 10.08am Aberdeen to Inverness train is also starting from Dyce instead of Aberdeen.
ScotRail's journey check web portal said: "Due to a safety inspection of the track between Aberdeen and Dyce all lines are closed. Disruption is expected until at least midday.
"Train services between Aberdeen and Inverness will be cancelled, delayed or suspended."
Taking to its social media channels, ScotRail added; "The line between Dyce and Aberdeen is currently closed following a report of a potential issue with the track. Network Rail Scotland staff are on their way to complete safety checks."
They added: "We've arranged for our tickets to be accepted on Stagecoach buses between Aberdeen and Inverness, we're also trying to get hold of replacement buses to run."
