Inverness Town House launch for Poppy Appeal

The local branch of armed forces charity Poppyscotland is launching its annual appeal in Inverness today.

The Inverness launch of the Scottish Poppy Appeal takes place with a civic reception at the town house.

Supported by the Inverness Common Good Fund, the event represents a recognition by Highland Council of the efforts of the charity to support current and former members of the armed forces and will offer those attending a greater insights into its the work including initiatives benefitting people in the Inverness area.

Provost Helen Carmichael said: “I am delighted on behalf of the members of the city of Inverness area committee to host the Scottish Poppy Appeal annual event in Inverness Town House. The annual Scottish Poppy Appeal is close to all our hearts and noting the work undertaken throughout the year in support of the military families and our support for the armed forces community covenant is important.”

The town house launch for the appeal will be followed by a gathering at the war memorial at Cavell Gardens at 3pm.
