A comedy show at Inverness Town House could be a sign of things to come as the venue shows it can be versatile.

The building, which previously staged Highland Council meetings, has some offices and hosts civic receptions.

It was also subject to millions of pounds of investment in recent years.

An Evening With Sanjeev Kohli saw the actor, best known as shopkeeper Navid in TV comedy Still Game, perform at the venue as part of a 12-venue tour.

The gig was booked by an external promoter Breakneck Comedy.

The Inverness Common Good Fund was able to charge for the let and any associated costs.

A council spokesman said: “In line with the new use of the Town House, the building is open for business and is expected to host more events in the future.”

Inverness Provost Glynis Campbell Sinclair said: “The event was the subject of a ‘private hall/venue let’. Any income derived from a ‘private hall/venue let’ will indeed benefit the Inverness Common Good Fund.”
