A HUB for tourists to explore the country and towns around Tomatin is being planned.

The company Tomatin Firewood has lodged an application with Highland Council to erect six glamping pods and a communal bothy on land south-west of The Dell Farmhouse near Tomatin village.

If approved the development would be set beside and screened by woodland owned by the applicant.

The pods are said to be of high quality and each would have a hot-tub and be clad in natural timber. The nearby communal bothy would contain basic utilities for the use of the glampers.

Each pod would have parking for two vehicles, and a separate parking area for three cars would be laid.

A design statement from the applicant points out that the growth of similar pods and chalets in the area indicates there is a demand for this sort of development, and Tomatin is an ideal area to explore Inverness-shire with Inverness and Aviemore being only a 30 minute drive away.

The design statement adds that the development is targeted towards tourists who are seeking a retreat to enjoy walking, cycling and exploring the scenic area.

The plan is under council consideration.
