Today's Kidical Mass cycling event in Inverness has been cancelled due to weather.

Rain has been forecast for the city and wider area, with an amber weather warning issued by the Met Office.

Warnings were made yesterday by train operators who either cancelled services or feared significant disruption today because of the rain.

Dozens of people usually gather for Kidical Mass North, which is a monthly campaigning ride that was established in 2021 as a way of promoting safe spaces for people of all ages and to give children a voice and visibility in the debates around city infrastructure.

Organisers stated: "The October Kidical Mass was due to be held on Saturday at 1.30pm [starting at Bellfield Park]. Due to the Met Office amber weather warning for the Highlands for the weekend, with heavy rain and flooding forecast, we have taken the decision to cancel this event.

"Please rest assured that we will be running as normal next month on Saturday, November 4 for more cycling fun – weather allowing."
