Flights linking Inverness and Bristol were cancelled today.

Flights connecting Inverness and Bristol have been cancelled today following a road crash in the English city.

It has been reported that the crash was on the main route to the terminal at Bristol Airport, causing delays for passengers and staff therefore impacting dozens of flights.

EasyJet's flight that was supposed to leave Bristol at 9.50am and arrive in Inverness at 11.20am was cancelled, as was the service that was due to leave the Highland capital at noon and arrive in Bristol at 1.20pm.

A spokesman for easyJet stated online: "We’re sorry that your flight has been cancelled.

"This is because the runway at Bristol Airport was closed following the restriction access to the terminal caused by a traffic incident.

"We understand that this will be disappointing news and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to make new plans, so here’s everything you need to know about what to do next.

"The disruption to your flight is outside of our control and is considered to be an extraordinary circumstance."

The firm has offered passengers the chance to switch to another flight, choose a voucher for full value of the ticket or request a refund.
