EMERGENCY services attended a three-vehicle collision on a key trunk road in the Highlands earlier this evening.

The accident, which happened on the A835 north of the Tore roundabout, was notified to police at around 5.40pm.

The incident, near the Mulbuie turn-off, involved two cars and a van, according to police.

It's understood no one was seriously hurt.

Police said two of the vehicles were drivable after the incident and the other was recovered.

Traffic flow was affected with at least one bus being diverted via the A9.

The accident temporarily stopped traffic on the route as police and fire teams arrived at the scene.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said an appliance was dispatched from Dingwall.

A spokesman said firefighters helped gain access to the rear of the van to check a gas cannister.

Emergency workers at the scene ensured everyone was safe.
