A THREE vehicle accident blocked the A82 trunk road for a short time this morning (Wednesday) not far from the scene of the horrific crash that claimed the lives of an Inverness couple and their two daughters.

Calls were made for “serious improvements” to the Inverness to Glasgow road following last Thursday's tragedy at Torlundy north of Fort William.

Gemma Cousin (26), husband Rhys (25), Peyton (3), and one-year-old Heidi, from Westhill, all died in the crash as they headed home in their green Mini Cooper.

A 56-year-old woman who was driving the other car, a red Ford Fiesta, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries, and was treated at the Belford Hospital in Fort William.

Following this crash councillors and safety campaigners raised concerns about the suitability of the road and road surface.

Police were alerted to this morning's collision about 8.25am near the entrance to Inverlochy Castle Hotel.

It involved a VW van, a Ford Kuga and a Skoda saloon.

A police spokesman said there were no reports of anyone being injured.
