THREE power workers have become stranded in snow above Fort Augustus sparking a major land rescue operation.

About a dozen members of the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team are making their way to Glendoe.

Glendoe is the location of a hydro-electric scheme and the site of the Stronelairg wind farm.

CMRT member Simon Steer told the Inverness Courier he believed the weather conditions prevented a search and rescue helicopter from going up.

He said: "We are currently undretaking a resuce operation for three individuals who have become stranded. We don't know how that has happened at the moment. About a dozen of us are heading to the scene right now."
