A 32-YEAR-OLD Inverness woman who threatened to stab a woman who was pregnant has been ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work in the community.
Sherrie Stirling of the city’s Benula Road was also placed under two years of social work supervision.
Sheriff Sara Matheson heard that she was addressing drugs issues and trying to stay out of trouble.
Sentence at Inverness Sheriff Court had previously been deferred on Stirling for reports.
She had admitted at an earlier hearing to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner in the Milnafua area of Alness in Easter Ross on May 27, 2018.
The court was told that Stirling who, it was said, was “under the influence of something” at the time initially approached a man at the scene and threatened to stab him.
She then uttered threats to “stick a knife” into a pregnant woman and engaged in a struggle with her.
Defence solicitor Graham Mann explained to the court: “Her mother, who is frail, was badly assaulted and this was something of retaliation for it.”
