Third day without freshly-confirmed Covid-19 cases in NHS Highland area; total of 335 positive tests since coronavirus outbreak began in Highlands; numbers rose by 55 to 12,156 across Scotland as a whole

NO fresh cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the Highlands for the third day in a row.

The number of people who have tested positive for the coronavirus has remained flat at 335.

It came as 55 fresh cases were recorded across Scotland as a whole, to take the total number of people who have tested positive for the virus to 15,156 since the outbreak began. The true number is believed to be much higher.

There have also been three further fatalities reported across the country among those who have tested positive – or 2273 since the pandemic started.

The number of Scots in the country's hospitals with confirmed Covid-19 remained almost flat, rising just four to 849, of whom there were 29 in intensive care (down four).

In NHS Highland there were 10 people being treated in hospital with confirmed Covid-19.

Elsewhere in the north, the health boards of Orkney, Shetland and Eileanan Siar recorded no new cases.

While NHS Grampian saw its numbers rise by 21 to 1245, while its hospital patients fell by one to 71.

NHS Tayside recorded just one new case, for an overall tally of 1659. Fourteen people were being treated in its hospitals last night with confirmed Covid-19.
