‘The club’s relationship with the city has been damaged’: Highland MSP backs Trust calls for change at the top at Inverness Caledonian Thistle

MSP Emma Roddick has backed Inverness Caledonian Thistle Supporters Trust calls for change at the top of the club, blaming “astoundingly poor decisions” on and off the field for the club’s fortunes.
The Highlands and Islands MSP’s comment comes after the Inverness club were relegated from the SPFL Championship, following a second leg 3-2 playoff defeat to Hamilton Academical at Caledonian Stadium yesterday.

A statement from the Inverness Caledonian Thistle Supporters Trust released after the game blamed “a series of questionable decisions” and how the club is run as the reason for the club’s failure this season.
Ms Roddick, a life-long Inverness Caley Thistle supporter, has backed the Trust statement, saying that her relationship as a fan of the club — and the club’s relationship with the city — has been “damaged” over the past year, and that supporter representation on the board at the club is now needed.
Ms Roddick said: “It is gutting to see the club in this position, particularly as it was such a short time ago we were all sat in Hampden feeling genuine hope that there could be a late equaliser against Celtic for the Scottish Cup.
“The situation the club is in is a culmination of astoundingly poor decisions on and off the pitch.
“I know I'm not alone in having felt my relationship with the club being damaged over the last year, and I think the same can be said of the club's relationship with the city.”
Angry scenes took place inside and outside the Caledonian Stadium yesterday, with fans protesting against members of the Inverness Caledonian Thistle board at full time.
Ms Roddick added: “Fans don't feel heard or involved and the focus of management has been entirely in the wrong places.
“We need to come back after the summer a completely different club if we have any hope of going back up where we belong.
“I fully back the statement from the Caley Thistle Supporter's Trust last night, particularly its call for supporter representation at a board level.”
