Temporary diversions and traffic management measures have been in place in the Merkinch area of Inverness while works have been taking place to make safe both the external and internal structure of a building damaged by a vehicle on January 21.

A spokesman for Highland Council said: "Due to the delay in delivering to site the specialist equipment needed to complete the stage three internal propping works in the basement of the damaged building, the works are still to be completed.

"An update on the progress of the internal propping up works will be provided next week but in the meantime the council will be adjusting the temporary diversion and traffic management measures that have been in place in an effort to relieve the volume of traffic using India Street.

"The signed diversion route will utilise Lower Kessock Street, Thornbush Road Anderson Street, and Nelson Street."
He continued: "Signage is in the process of getting erected so the new temporary traffic arrangements will come into play tomorrow, Thursday February 11.

"All road users are asked to follow the signed diversion routes and to ensure that they always stick to the speed limit.

"These revised measures will be reviewed once the stage three works to the damaged building are completed."
