Motorists are being advised to plan ahead as temporary traffic lights will be in operation in Nairn this weekend to allow essential roadworks to go ahead safely.

They will be in place on the A96, south west of McDermott’s Road to enable contractors working for national digital network business, Openreach, to install a new underground duct.

It is part of a community fibre partnership to provide gigabit-capable fibre broadband to several local households.

The roadworks will take place on Saturday and Sunday November 7 and 8 with two-way traffic lights operating from 8am to 4pm.

They will be manually operated to help reduce any delays.

An Openreach spokesperson said: "We’re sorry for any disruption caused by these roadworks.

"We’d advise local drivers who might be impacted to plan ahead and leave some extra time for their journey - and thank them for their understanding."
