Temporary Highland road closure at Hamilton Street, Inverness at the junction with Eastgate to 'introduce measures to avoid crowding and control the flow of customers'

HIGHLAND Council is introducing a temporary road closure until Christmas Eve to 'avoid crowding and control the flow of customers in Inverness city centre.

The closure will be in place for Hamilton Street between its junction with Eastgate and its junction with Academy Street.

A Highland Council spokeswoman said: "A temporary road closure will be in place for the U5104 Hamilton Street, Inverness, which will be closed between its junction with Eastgate (U4617) and its junction with Academy Street (B865).

"The closure is required for public safety while enabling the introduction of measures to avoid crowding and to control the flow of customers.

"The temporary closure will be in operation between 8am on Friday December 17 to 6pm on Friday December 24 2021.

She continued: "Pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained and consideration has been given to the safety and convenience of alternative routes suitable for the traffic which will be affected by this closure."
