Police are appealing for witnesses after a 16-year-old boy was killed in a three-vehicle crash on the A9.

He was a passenger in a red Vauxhall Corsa which was involved in a collision with a white Nissan Juke and a blue VW Polo.

The crash happened on the A9 at the junction of the B9161 to Munlochy at 6.55pm yesterday.

The teenager was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness and died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the VW Polo was also taken to the hospital.

Sergeant Angus Murray, of the Dingwall Road Policing Unit, said: “We are supporting the young man’s family at this time and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

“I would encourage anyone who may have seen what happened to contact us. I would also ask if there are drivers with dash-cam footage which might help with our investigation to call us."

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident 3576 of December 20, 2019.
