A YOUTH who panicked when police arrived at his grandmother’s house to deal with a street disturbance was admonished at Inverness Sheriff Court.

Sentence had been deferred for Jack Drummond’s good behaviour and Sheriff Gary Aitken took a lenient approach after hearing he had stayed out of trouble for four months.

The court had heard Drummond (19), of Craigton Avenue, Inverness, was on curfew but not where he should have been at at 4.50am on December 30 last year, and was in the city’s Bruce Gardens instead.

He gave a false name to police but his lie was discovered and he was arrested. He admitted attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Solicitor John MacColl said Drummond “had good reason” not to be at his curfew address on the date in question.
