Partnership creates digital job opportunities for Highland young people

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) has partnered with technology giant Capgemini to start young Highlanders on a digital career path.
Capgemini has collaborated with Skills Development Scotland (SDS), Inverness College UHI and Manpower to target local young people for the positions, which are based in and around Inverness.
Two webinars developed by SDS will showcase the opportunities available at Capgemini and give young people a greater understanding of the digital industry.
Taking place on Tuesday, October 6 from 2-3pm and Thursday, October 8 from 4.30-5.30pm, the webinars will also highlight the career support available from SDS.
SDS Growth and Inward Investment Manager Derek Cairns, who will be hosting the webinars, said: “Capgemini have a long track record of investing in the development of their workforce. Over the past decade, they’ve employed more than 300 Modern Apprentices in digital/IT roles across the Highlands.
“The firm is a great indicator of how Scotland’s growing digital technologies sector will play a key part in the recovery of the Highland economy.”
Inverness College UHI has worked closely with Capgemini to deliver Modern Apprenticeships across Northern Scotland.
UHI director of external relations Georgie Parker said: “As Capgemini’s local partner in providing Modern Apprenticeships, we have seen at first hand the fantastic opportunities for career development available to their employees. We look forward to supporting the new recruits.”
The recruitment process for the positions at Capgemini is being facilitated by employment agency Manpower.
